Updated: 3 hours ago

The towing and recovery industry is mourning the loss of Donald “Don” R. Landoll, founder of Landoll Corporation, who died October 31, 2026, at age 83 in Marysville, Kansas.
Landoll built a manufacturing company that became known for innovation and quality, leaving a lasting mark on the equipment industry.
His entrepreneurial journey began in 1963 when he and business partner Jesse Moffitt purchased Quick Service Welding in Marysville. Over the years, Landoll expanded into trailer manufacturing, agricultural equipment, military products and material-handling equipment. His innovations included the patented Landoll Traveling Axle Trailer, which helped shape the company's reputation.
Dennie Ortiz, publisher of American Towman Magazine, recently spoke with Landoll in Chattanooga. “I was speaking to Don just a couple of weeks ago in Chattanooga, and he was his usual warm, charming and gracious self. And still passing around his business cards as if he was not one of the most well-known and well-respected figures in the industry. Don will be missed.”
The Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association also remembered Landoll as an inspiration, saying his legacy would live on throughout the association.
His family described him as humble and unassuming, someone who made everyone feel special. “To know Don was special and that is exactly how he would make you feel – special!”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held November 7 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Landoll Foundation through Kinsley Mortuary.
