After 40 years serving motorists across Fayette County, Ohio, tow owner Jim Moore is retiring and handing over the keys to Moore’s Towing Service.

Moore’s decision came in September amid rising fuel and operating costs, bringing an end to a career that began when he was just 13 years old, sweeping floors at his father’s workplace and getting his first experience behind the wheel of a wrecker.

After 11 years as a mechanic, Moore purchased his own truck and launched his towing business. Over the decades, the operation grew into one of the region’s largest, providing roadside assistance, repossessions, vehicle transport and recovery services. He also worked closely with local police departments, sheriff’s offices and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The family-run business included his wife, Beverly, who handled the books, and their daughter, who grew up riding along and eventually learned to operate the equipment.

Beyond towing, Moore supported local motorists in need and contributed to community charities through the Dragin Angels Car Club, where he serves as president.

Retirement will give Moore more time with family and his passion for restoring classic cars.
