A dispute over a repossessed vehicle turned deadly Friday morning when gunfire erupted at a towing business in north Tulsa, leaving two people dead and the man police say opened fire injured.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m., according to the Tulsa Police Department.

Police said a group went to the towing company looking for a vehicle that had been repossessed. Two people entered the business to speak with the owner, and an altercation followed.

According to police, one of the people looking for the vehicle, later identified as Darius Jones, pulled out a firearm.

The business owner also produced a weapon, police said, and the two exchanged gunfire.

The business owner and his wife were both struck. Jones was shot in the arm.

Jones reportedly fled the business and ran across the street, where he was treated by emergency responders and taken to a hospital.

The business owner's wife died at the scene. The owner was transported to a hospital by emergency responders but later died from his injuries.

Jones was treated for his gunshot wound and subsequently released from the hospital. Police then took him to the Tulsa County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of first-degree murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
