Towmen Tackle Massive South Carolina I-95 Recovery

When 69 vehicles collided Thursday on I-95's Lake Marion Bridge in South Carolina, the emergency response quickly expanded into a massive towing operation involving companies from several counties.
Jody Taylor of Taylor Made Towing & Recovery arrived with two rollbacks and ultimately recovered nine vehicles.
“It was massive mayhem,” Taylor said. “It was crazy. It was just everywhere, carnage everywhere.”
Taylor estimated that as many as two dozen towing companies converged on the scene.
Cherron Lawson of Lawson's Towing brought four units and recovered 11 vehicles. He said Highway Patrol controlled access to the bridge while Princess Towing helped move damaged vehicles into position for the waiting wreckers.
Tracy Richburg said her family's one-truck operation recovered four vehicles, three of them severely damaged.
“They were demolished,” she said. “I mean, they're totaled. They're just tore up.”
Robbie Spigner of Bob's Body Shop arrived with four trucks and recovered a motorhome, an 18-wheeler and two cars.
“I've been through on that same bridge for about 50 years,” Spigner said, “and I've never seen one that bad.”
The recovery continued into the early morning hours, with tow companies moving vehicles from the bridge to staging areas and storage yards.
