More than 50 tow truck drivers and a dozen law enforcement officers gathered in Rincon, Georgia on Wednesday to honor 42-year-old Floyd Crespo, a heavy operator killed in what colleagues say was a preventable roadside tragedy.

Crespo, who worked for Rahn’s Wrecker Service, was struck and killed by a truck on Hilton Head Island on September 25. His casket was placed on the back of his tow truck before leading a solemn procession to his memorial site.

Drivers from across the region traveled hundreds of miles to pay tribute. “The guy was always smiling… I’m gonna miss him a lot,” said Scott Grafton of Sapps Wrecker Service.

For many, the gathering was also a call to action. “It’s a senseless killing because of drivers not paying attention,” said Rahn’s Wrecker Service owner Corey Rahn. He urged motorists to follow the Move Over Law: “Any light flashing on the side of the road means slow down at least 20 miles below the limit and move over.” Source: https://www.wtoc.com
