Towers Called In to Clear Blighted Michigan Industrial Site
City officials in Warren, Michigan, conducted a large-scale cleanup operation on June 16 at RSG Industrial Repairs after the property owner failed to comply with a court-ordered deadline to remove vehicles, equipment, and debris from the site.
Dozens of local tow trucks, accompanied by police and city crews, arrived at the industrial property located on Maxwell and Sherwood streets to remove disabled vehicles, forklifts, and other materials stored outdoors. According to Warren Director of Public Services David Muzzarelli, the action followed a court order requiring property owner Ron Gerst to clear the site by June 1.
Muzzarelli said the cleanup was prompted by longstanding complaints from nearby residents and that the business lacked a valid site plan for outdoor storage. Gerst disputed the city's actions, claiming his small business was being unfairly targeted despite efforts to comply.
Neighbors welcomed the cleanup, with several residents saying they had complained about the property's condition for years. City officials said they will continue monitoring blighted properties as part of ongoing efforts to improve neighborhood conditions.
