Texas Towman Downed, Another Injured, by FedEx Truck

A tow operator working south of Dallas/Ft. Worth was killed on I-20, Wednesday, 2/7. Another tow operator on scene was critically injured, airlifted to a hospital. 

44 year old Oscar Merchan Contreras was working the right shoulder alongside another tow operator when they were struck by a FedEx truck hauling double trailers. Reportedly,  as the two men went about their task, a FedEx 18-wheeler, its double trailers stretching along the asphalt, attempted to overtake another vehicle in the right lane. The massive truck colliding with the tow trucks. 

Contreras, a dedicated tow operator with a passion for helping others, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office reported that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed as of now, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
