Self-Defense Claim Denied in Killing of Towman Jason Click

A judge has ruled that a deadly December 2023 shooting in Harvest, Alabama, an unincorporated community in Madison County, Alabama, was not an act of self-defense, setting the stage for a June 8 trial.

The victim, 38-year-old Jason Click, was killed while attempting to repossess a vehicle on Wedgewood Terrace Road, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office. Click, owner of Ace Towing and BNS Recovery Services, was well known in the local towing community. Hundreds later honored him in nearby Huntsville, Alabama with a “last call” tribute of flashing tow trucks.

Prosecutors say there was a valid repossession order for the Audi involved. The defendant, Warren Siao, claimed he believed the men were stealing his car.

Siao testified he heard a noise, retrieved a suppressed rifle, and fired multiple shots. Investigators recovered 16 shell casings. Evidence showed Click rang the doorbell before removing the vehicle from an open garage—actions captured on video.

Prosecutors argued Siao did not reasonably fear for his life. The judge agreed. Source: https://www.waff.com/ and https://whnt.com
