Repossession Industry Pioneer Myles Weiss Dies
Myles Weiss, a pioneer of the repossession industry and longtime leader in Southern California, has died after more than six decades of service to the profession.

Weiss founded Able Auto in 1962, building the company into one of the recovery industry’s respected names. That same year, he helped establish the California Association of Licensed Repossessors (CALR), beginning a lifelong commitment to industry advocacy and professional standards.
Through his involvement with CALR, the American Recovery Association (ARA), and various industry boards and committees, Weiss worked to strengthen relationships and promote professionalism throughout the recovery community.
For decades, he developed trusted relationships with financial institutions, credit unions, and fellow recovery professionals across California and beyond. His experience and willingness to share his knowledge made him a mentor to generations of agency owners and recovery operators.
His wife, Francine, stood beside him throughout their 69-year partnership, supporting his work and helping strengthen industry relationships.
Weiss leaves a lasting legacy through the organizations he helped build and the professionals he guided.
