Remembering ‘Fast Eddy’: Beloved Tow Operator
For the first time in 15 years, Arrow Trucking, based in Council Bluffs Iowa, was without their beloved tow operator "Fast Eddy" Bartling. Owner Brad Arrowsmith, who worked a Sunday shift without his longtime friend and employee said, “It really hit today. I’m out working Eddy’s shift, more or less.”“It really hit today. I’m out working Eddy’s shift, more or less.”
Bartling, known for his quick response and big heart, died last Sunday after suffering a heart attack while driving home from a tow. He was remembered this week by coworkers, friends, and police officers who often relied on his help.
“He’d give the shirt off his back,” said colleague Daryl Jones, who shared 25 years of breakfasts and calls with him. “This morning, there was no call — and he wasn’t there.”
The Omaha Police Officers Association called him “a great partner” who “always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.”
At his funeral Saturday, Bartling’s casket rested in his tow truck. That night, tow trucks across the region lit up the sky in his honor, a final tribute to “Fast Eddy." Source: https://www.ketv.com
