PSS Adds Fill Port to FirstGard Traffic Cone

PSS, a leading innovator in traffic safety equipment, has announced an important upgrade to its FirstGard foldable traffic cone. The enhanced design now features a convenient fill port, allowing users to add dry sand for increased stability in high-speed or windy conditions.

Each of FirstGard’s three panels can hold up to 1.5 pounds of sand, providing a combined 4.5 pounds of ballast. This added weight helps ensure cones remain upright during roadside emergencies, construction work, or temporary lane closures. The improvement came in response to customer feedback, particularly from first responders who face unpredictable weather.

The Ann Arbor Township Fire Department tested the prototype. Captain Lewis Kempf noted that even a quarter pound of sand per panel significantly stabilized cones that would otherwise topple on windy days, making them reliable in open expressway areas.
