LAPD Crackdown on Street Takeover brings Arrests, Vehicle Tows

Los Angeles police launched a massive early-morning operation targeting an illegal street takeover near South Figueroa Street and Alondra Boulevard, resulting in multiple arrests and numerous vehicles being towed.

The LAPD Street Racing Task Force began the operation around 3 a.m., responding to activity in an area neighbors describe as a frequent gathering spot for street racers and takeover participants.

Police brought in buses to transport those arrested to a local jail, while a long line of tow trucks removed vehicles from the scene. Several blocks remained closed as dozens of officers continued the operation, supported by helicopters circling overhead.

Residents said hundreds of people regularly gather in the area on weekends, blocking streets and creating dangerous conditions.

“They crash into cars. There’s debris out here. It’s just dangerous,” one neighbor said, adding that participants also set off fireworks and show little regard for nearby residents.

The crackdown follows several recent street takeover-related crimes targeting businesses across Los Angeles. Police hope the operation sends a clear message that illegal takeovers will face increased enforcement.
