Randall “Randy” Kuntsman, 65, of Independence, Kentucky, was killed Saturday morning while loading a vehicle onto his tow truck on eastbound I-275 in Taylor Mill.

According to the Kenton County Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 9:15 a.m. after reports of what was initially believed to be a pedestrian-involved collision. A subsequent investigation determined Kuntsman’s death resulted from an accident while he was recovering a vehicle from an earlier crash.

Police said Kuntsman was in the process of loading the vehicle when the tow truck began rolling downhill. The incident ultimately led to fatal injuries. Authorities reported that no other vehicles were involved and that no suspicious circumstances are suspected.

The Kenton County Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations is continuing to examine the incident.
