Insurance Group Honors Recovery Leader Carl Purvis
Recovery Specialist Insurance Group is mourning the death of Carl Purvis, a longtime recovery industry leader and owner of Federal Auto Recovery in Smyrna, Georgia. Purvis died at his home June 24, 2026, following a battle with cancer.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Purvis operated Federal Auto Recovery for more than 30 years and was a member of the Recovery Specialist Insurance Group from 1994 until retiring in 2017. He also served as president and past president of Allied Finance Adjusters.
In 2016, Purvis became the first recipient of the J. Ace Carter Award for Excellence, the organization’s highest honor, recognizing his contributions to the recovery industry. He also represented Allied on the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund Advisory Committee.
Purvis was instrumental in bringing the two organizations together to discuss joint meetings, helping create a tradition that has resulted in 13 joint annual meetings. The organization extended condolences to his wife, Patricia, and children Carl Lee and Carla Daneille.
