Former Towing Owner Killed in Motorcycle Crash
A Largo, Florida, man and former owner of a local motorcycle towing company was killed Thursday in a crash involving a Tesla in Pinellas County, authorities said.
Morgan Svensson, 45, was riding a 2006 Honda CBR 1000R southbound on Seminole Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Aug. 20, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
At the same time, a 55-year-old Sarasota man was driving a 2025 Tesla Model 3 northbound on Seminole Boulevard. Investigators said the Tesla entered a left-turn lane and turned west onto 53rd Avenue North, crossing into the path of Svensson's motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the Tesla, ejecting Svensson. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His family was notified.
Svensson was the former owner of Moto-Tow Inc., a motorcycle towing company. In a Facebook post, the company said Svensson is survived by his wife and daughter and described him as someone who “loved everything and anything on two wheels.”
The Tesla driver was not injured and cooperated with deputies. Speed is believed to have been a factor. The investigation remains ongoing.
