Extreme Dump Recovery in Vietnam
CUU HO 116 is a road service company located in Hanoi, Vietnam. CUU HO 116 translates to “116 Rescue.” They were established in 2000 from a car repair business and since then have become a top professional towing and recovery service in Vietnam. The 116 has an imported modern fleet of car carriers, wreckers and recovery equipment to meet all of the difficult and complicated recovery and rescue situations they face in Northern Vietnam. They handle everything from road service to light-, medium- and heavy-duty towing and recovery, including extreme off-road recoveries.Last year, the 116 did this awesome off-road recovery job of a dump truck that had gone off the road—435 miles from their office. They drove out to the scene in one of their 50-ton rotators, a Chinese unit from the Yuehai Co. (Guangdong Yuehai Motor Vehicle Co. was established in 1999 and produces towing and recovery equipment. Since 1999, Yuehai has drafted and modified the national standard of the tow truck.)Once on the scene, the 116 were informed that the driver of the dump truck had lost control and rolled over many times into a valley. The crew found that the truck was down roughly 656’ from the road in some deep, rough terrain.First they moved their rotator in position at the edge of the drop-off spot in line with the dump truck. Then a few of the recovery crew made the long climb down into the valley and hooked to the mangled front end of the dump. Hard to say how many times they had to slide down that hill during hookup. The operator on the controls had to go slow and steady to get the dump free of the big rocks that were in the way. At that distance it’s a real test of skills, but they were able to get it back up out of the steep valley and onto the road. They used only one rotator to recover the dump truck and took two days to complete the lift. The crew ate and slept at the recovery site. These guys get some difficult recoveries and always handle them with a dedication to professionalism and good humor. They really enjoy the work they do.This is a very impressive job well done by the 116.
