Alabama Tow Operator Appeals Rotation Suspension

A long-established towing company in Mobile, Alabama, is pushing back against a 60-day suspension that temporarily removes it from the city’s police rotation list—a penalty with significant financial consequences for any operator.

During a public hearing before the Mobile City Council, representatives for B&B Auto Wrecker argued the punishment is excessive following a Lundi Gras incident involving a non-permitted vehicle. Police officials stated the company violated municipal rotation rules after determining a 2017 Dodge Ram tied to the company lacked proper registration credentials for authorized towing activity.

Owner Brad Walker acknowledged the truck was not registered for rotation use but maintained it was insured and never used to perform a tow. Instead, he said, he was staging near parade routes to coordinate dispatch for properly permitted trucks.

Mobile Police noted the incident marks a second infraction involving unauthorized equipment presenting for service, reinforcing the department’s enforcement stance on rotation compliance.

The council is expected to decide within 10 days whether to uphold or overturn the suspension.  Source: https://www.fox10tv.com
