A 75-year-old Florida man has been sentenced to two years in prison after firing at a repossession agent attempting to recover his daughter’s car.

The incident occurred on February 14, 2023, when Frank Harrell Weaver, 58, arrived at Winzoir Von Durr’s home to repossess a grey Nissan. Durr, then 73, disputed the delinquency and went inside, claiming he was retrieving paperwork. Instead, he returned with a firearm.

Weaver reported hearing a gunshot, followed by multiple rounds aimed at the vehicle. Police recovered four shell casings and seized Durr’s 9mm handgun. Durr admitted to firing a warning shot and additional rounds at the tires to stop Weaver from leaving.

At sentencing, Durr, a former Army veteran and Smithsonian employee, expressed regret, calling it “10 seconds of failure.” His attorney cited his age and health in requesting leniency, but Judge David P. Kreider emphasized the danger of firing multiple shots.

Weaver, a father of seven, said in court, “He could have took a lot away from my family.”

Durr pleaded no contest to aggravated assault and firing a weapon into a dwelling. He was sentenced to two years in prison, five years of probation, and ordered to avoid contact with Weaver. Source: https://curepossession.com
